Bath Spa University’s Estate is spread across several picturesque campuses and locations and it features a wide range of properties including a number of listed buildings.

The function of the Estates and Services Department is to provide a professional and cost effective estates management service to enable the University's function and activities to proceed in a safe and efficient manner and to create a progressive environment which enhances sustainable learning activity for all students and staff.

The Department has the responsibility for managing the Estates Strategy, property maintenance, property management, facilities management and health, safety and environmental management.

The post holder may be based at any premises the University occupies and may be required to work at any University site or any other reasonable location where the University is undertaking its business.

The post holder will be required to have some flexibility around the core working hours that are generally 8.00 to 17.00 (16.30 on Friday).  The University does reserve the right to request alternative hours to be worked on an ad-hoc basis to meet the operational needs of the organisation.

The Role

Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, you will be able to work efficiently and competently. The purpose of this post is to maintain University building assets and to respond to planned and reactive maintenance work requests. Typically this will include scheduled work requests that require skilled small scale building and fabric repairs or modifications.

The Requirements

It is essential that you have qualifications in a building maintenance trade or discipline, preferably gained through a recognized trade apprenticeship; Preference will be given to candidates from commercial/ school/University background, with significant recent experience in separate aspects of building maintenance such as carpentry, plumbing, gas/electric heating systems etc.
