AC Engineer

Girling Jones are recruiting for an AC Engineer to join a leading National TFM provider within the MOD framework. A diverse position, undertaking air conditioning, cooling and refrigeration repair and maintenance work on MOD buildings, providing a customer focused and cost effective service. As an AC Engineer, you will provide key operational support to the business, delivering a great service to our customers, whilst ensuring works are completed on time and within service requirements.

• Carry out planned maintenance activities on a variety of MOD Establishments
• Undertake fault finding, investigation and reactive repairs to a variety of different types of installations, such as:

- DX Splits
- Package Chillers
- Commercial fridges & freezers
- Air handling units

• Undertake mechanical repairs, such as replacement of belts, removal and fitting of pumps and fans.
• Carry out ad hoc technical report writing and investigations.
• Ensure all equipment is checked before use, is fit for use, and that you are trained to use it
• Manage a schedule of work and ensure all associated administration duties are completed and submitted in a timely manner
• Review and contribute to Risk Assessments and Method Statements to ensure they are to an acceptable standard and ensure compliance at all times
• Work from drawings and specifications and other documentation without the need for direct supervision
• Record all tasks against the appropriate assets in the WorkManager system and ensure all documentation relating to maintenance and response works is completed, recorded and distributed in a timely manner
• Notify management of any defects on equipment or systems
• Deliver continuous improvement within the scope of the role and keep to key performance indicators
• Ensure that confidentiality is observed at all times and that matters relating to duties undertaken or information received during the course of duties remains confidential

What you will need to succeed

• A good understanding of electrical requirements in a busy, fast paced environment
• Flexible approach to work requirements and hours of work
• Prioritising tasks to meet tight deadlines
• Planning and completing personal objectives
• Working as part of a wider team to ensure compliance with KPIs
• Providing face to face support and advice to customers across the business
• Experience of operating in a security sensitive environment/and or previous SC clearance
• Knowledge of relevant Health and Safety requirements including COSHH and RIDDOR
• Working to ISO
• Previous employment with health and fitness companies and other similar service providers.
• Experience of operating in an MOD environment
• Experience of the Asbestos at Work Act, DDA, energy performance, Sustainability etc.

Qualifications

• 2079-11 City and Guilds Level 2 Award in F-Gas and ODS Regulations: Category I
• 6187-01 City and Guilds Level 2 NVQ Diploma in installing, testing and maintaining air-conditioning and heat pump systems
• 6187-02 City and Guilds Level 2 NVQ Diploma in installing and maintaining refrigeration systems
• Full electrical trade qualification
• 17th Edition IEE regulations
• Good standards of numeracy and literacy
• Basic IT skills, including using a PDA
• Able to obtain and maintain basic and SC security clearance
• Full UK driving licence
• Accredited First Aid qualification - Desirable
• Accredited Health and Safety qualification - Desirable
• Membership of a relevant professional body - Desirable
