About Our Client:
Our client is a Leading Shipping business and are looking to recruit a Customer Service Assistant on full time permanent contract. This is a very important role for our client and they are looking for their Customer Service Assistant to offer high levels of customer service and go that extra mile. Our client`s Customer Service Assistants are responsible for ensuring export bookings within assigned trade routes are taken and processed correctly, quotes are given accurately and on time and customer quotes/queries are followed up on, in line with the company’s customer services policies and standard operating procedures.
Main Responsibilities of the Customer Service Assistant:
- Building and maintaining strong account relationship management and resolving routine and some complex day-to-day customer issues
- Obtaining required information from external customers and preparing supporting documentation for export bookings within assigned trade routes
- Liaising with European Headquarters to ensure slot allocations, more competitive rates/on-carriage prices
- Updating and inputting export bookings per vessel for assigned trade routes and rate request data into internal system for the use by European Headquarters
- Responsible for regular liaison with port offices within and outside UK and local our client`s offices to resolve disputes, ensure cargo is successfully loaded and customs entries are accepted
- Administering bills of lading and invoices for customers
- Processing and monitoring dangerous goods and out-of-gauge/special cargo applications from customers
- Chasing clients for shipping instructions and forwarding shipping instructions for input.
Key Skills required for the role:
- Must have shipping industry background
- Must have an organised and flexible approach to work
- Intermediate / advanced level Microsoft Office skills
- Emphasis on customer care
- Good numeracy skills
- Strong administration skills
Required education:
- Secondary education
