Mechanical Design Engineer

This company has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team based near Gainsborough, Lincolnshire. This role will report to the Technical Manager.

They are a small to medium sized manufacturer of confectionary and snack wrapping machinery and employ approximately 115 people. The Company are very successful within their market and are currently undergoing a phase of expansion. They have recently relocated into a new purpose-built facility within the Somerby Way industrial park.

Essential Experience and Key Skills:

- Solidworks, able to produce parts, assemblies and drawings
- AutoCAD / Draftsight- a working knowledge of this is essential
- Machine building experience is a necessity to the success of the role
- Ability to carry out all stages of the machine design process is essential:
- Assessing the project requirements
- Undertake relevant research and testing
- Working through concepts and calculations
- Liaising with customers
- Modelling and detail drawing
- Able to carry out calculations for sizing motors, gearbox's, shafts, belts etc.
- Liaise with outside suppliers
- Familiarity with the machinery directive for machine design
- Familiarity with servo motor control and other automation equipment
- Mechanical biased role- knowledge of gears, cams and mechanisms is required
- Demonstrated substantial experience in mechanical engineering design
- MS Office- Excel for BOMS etc.

Desirable Experience:

- Some knowledge of packaging machines would be advantageous
- Special projects- experience of this would be desirable
