We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic learning mentor with a focus on SEND to join our Personal Learning Centre team. The successful candidate will work in co-operation with the SENCO and senior leadership to provide a complementary service to that given by teachers and pastoral staff in college. You will address the needs of specific students with special educational needs who require help to overcome barriers to learning, both inside and outside the college, by promoting a positive attitude towards education and providing intervention strategies to support their welfare and achievement in order that they can reach their full potential.
A relevant NVQ level 3 (or equivalent qualification) is essential, or recent proven ability of working at this level in a similar role in an education setting. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, the ability to engage constructively with and relate to a wide range of young people from different backgrounds and with a variety of SEN needs, as well as being able to work effectively with a range of school professionals.
