As in-house recruiters for DENSO Marston Ltd, a large multinational manufacturing organisation based in Shipley we are looking for an experienced Design Application Engineer who will focus on the design and application of a full range of automotive heat exchangers into cooling systems for the company's many off highway vehicle customers. This role is crucial in delivering projects to a successful conclusion by liaising with customers, suppliers and internal departments, ensuring that requirements are delivered in full, on time and to budget.
The post holder will be involved predominantly in a technical project management role with responsibility for developing a fully proven customer vehicle installation solution and acting as a vital technical interface with customers.
Your key responsibilities will be:
- Delivering designs that are robust and in line with customer requirements.
- Initiating technical gap analysis for new project/new customer request.
- Guide customers through requirements at design stage by providing information on company specifications / thermodynamic and fluid transfer theory calculations / product issues.
- Carry out comprehensive project evaluations using theoretical tools, CAD designs, calculations, prototype validation tests combined with customer liaison to ensure a best fit to product requirements.
- Developing solutions with the various teams co-ordinating design, development, validation, and manufacturing engineering activities facilitating two-way communication between departments.
- Participate in cross functional proactive & corrective action groups to ensure successful new product introduction to on-site manufacturing facility.
- Manage engineering changes and their implementation liaising closely with the customer and the internal new product introduction team.
- Develop and deliver technical presentations to senior management and customers on new & current projects.
- Compliance on detail design with related company and TS16949 Standards.
- Travelling to customers will be required in either UK or overseas.
Ideally we are looking for candidates whose experience and skills encompass the following:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Candidates can be accepted with related disciplines but they should have a heavy mechanical engineering bias i.e. Automotive Engineering.
- Automotive experience is preferred especially from a Tier 1 or 2 supplier but candidates should have a background in applications engineering in particular project management and NPI activities.
- Good 3D/2D Design experience, preferably in the use of Pro Engineer, including Geometric Dimensioning, and Tolerancing.
Working hours 8:30 - 5:00 Mon - Thurs 8:30 - 1:30 Fri. Flexi-time of 30 minutes at either side of the core hours is available Mon - Thurs
