Business Area: Human Resources Location: Glasgow office Role: Human Resources Manager, Operations Reporting to: Head of HR, EMEA and US Hours of work - Monday to Friday, 9:00 - 17:30 (with flexibility around these times to meet deadlines and requirements of the role). Department/ Role Overview: The global Human Resources team is comprised of over 100 people. The HR Centres of Expertise are Diversity & Inclusion, Learning & Development, Operations, Partnership Office, Resourcing and Work Allocation. The advisory and operational teams are managed regionally across EMEA and US, Australia and Asia but these teams work closely together to provide a global, seamless HR service to the business. The HR Manager, Operations has overall responsibility for providing guidance on employee relation issues to the business, global HR policies and procedures, and oversight and overall responsibility of the myHRServices team. Main responsibilities: Primary point of contact for all English employment law queries for the global HR team and ensure the team is up to date with all developments in terms of employee legislation and relations issues. Provide guidance and intervention to the business on complex employee relations issues, such as disciplinary and grievances, as well as counselling and direction during change management processes, such as restructuring, TUPE transfers and redundancies. Be the main point of contact for our external employment advisors and manage their costs in accordance with the budget. Responsible for HR policy development for local and, where applicable, global HR policies to ensure compliance with relevant legislation. Manage and oversee the UK HR shared services team, which provides administrative support for Ashurst offices globally. Lead the team through changes associated with new technology, new processes, new team members and a growing global clientele. Take responsibility and the lead for all global HR policies and procedures, driving consistency across all offices, ensuring they are commercially focused, efficient and add value through the use of technology.. In particular, lead on global projects such as global mobility to drive efficiency. Work cross functionally to ensure HR global processes and approach are in line with firm wide strategy. Work with leaders to co-ordinate and manage internal communication initiatives and processes to improve employee engagement Work in collaboration with colleagues based across the firm ensure consistency, sharing of ideas and best practice. Collaborate with the Office of General Counsel, Risk & Compliance, Information Security and Business Development and other functions in providing HR expertise in relation to queries and ad hoc projects. Contribute to HR and other projects as required. Manage external relations with third party vendors. Support the development of junior members of the HR team by providing timely feedback and mentoring as appropriate. Champion diversity and inclusion in line with firm objectives. Essential skills and experience: Experience in delivering high quality HR support to a sophisticated client base, dealing with senior stakeholders and forging strong relationships at every level. Able to move from strategic reviews to hands on operational matters while retaining a high level of personal effectiveness and organisation. Strong level of knowledge of UK employment legislation. Ability to identify and implement business process improvements. Team player, contributing to the success of the HR team. Able to demonstrate depth of commercial understanding of the business. Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong negotiation skills with the ability to influence and persuade. Experience of working in a professional services environment would be advantageous. Highly customer focused. Excellent attention to detail. Ability to successfully manage competing priorities and deadlines. CIPD qualified or equivalent.
