My client school, based to the west of Walsall, is actively recruiting two Learning Support Assistants for the start of the new academic year in September. The role is a fully time permanent position during term time so candidates need to be able to commit to this before they consider applying.

The school is an 11-18 mixed comprehensive of below average size. Being based near Walsall, the school is home to pupils from wide ranging back grounds as well as a mix of socio economic classes. The percentage of pupils with English not as their first language is above the national average. Pupils at the school have a number of special educational needs including - dyslexia, Autism as well as extending to issues such as low self esteem, anger management problems or school phobia.

Because there is such a varied range of barriers to learning experienced by the school's pupils, the type of support that a Learning Support Assistant provides is very much dependent on the individual needs of the student.

As a Learning Support Assistant you will work across Key stages 3 & 4 in a variety of subjects. At times you will support the whole class whilst at other times you will be supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis. You will also be responding to the instruction of the school's SENCO who will guide you in positively enhancing an individual child's educational needs.

The school are looking for the following attributes and qualities in their recruitment of Learning Support Assistants:

• Patience
• Flexibility and Adaptability to changing demands
• Self motivated and able to use initiative
• Hard working and focused attitude to work
• Takes a keen interest in the Special Educational Needs of young learners

The school will support keen Learning Support Assistants with further training and development which means your skills and abilities in this area will develop and grow. The school is committed to ensuring all at the school, despite individual learning needs, receive the highest possible standard of education.

If this sounds like the type of school you'd like to work with and are committed to a career in education then please email a copy of your CV to Patrick at Edustaff today.
