This company is one of the world's leading suppliers of high-quality static storage solutions, state of the art intra logistics and automated material handling systems

With this continued growth they are looking for a PLC Support Engineer to work within the IT Support Department in Pury Hill, near Towcester.

The PLC Support Engineer in this company is responsible for providing 1st and 2nd level support for PLC issues alongside commissioning and testing. Key responsibilities and duties include:

- Taking help desk calls providing 1st line support and maintaining the ticketing system to track, monitor and resolve issues proactively
- Providing PLC Support to on site engineering teams
- Assisting and investigating 2nd line issues
- Analyse daily operation reports to identify opportunities for continuous improvement
- Update knowledge based articles
- Commissioning and go live testing for new customers
- Software and hardware testing for new and existing customers
- Proactively promote and comply with all health and safety regulations

Effective communication is essential for this role in order to balance the demands of supporting your team as well as the needs of the Customer. You will have the ability to deal with problems effectively therefore thinking on your feet quickly to deal with issues/faults proactively minimising down time and actively working to key performance indicators. You will be able to demonstrate the relevant skills as detailed in job description.

To apply for this position, the minimum requirements are as follows:
- BSc or HND/HNC in Electrical/Computer Science, Electronic, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience in similar work
- Understanding of PLC coding is essential
- Knowledge of Siemens Step 7, ASI-BUS, PROFIBUS, CANBUS, SICK sensors, SEW drives, SCADA, EPLAN, Safety Systems, HMI, Scanners and RFID.
- Experience of Linux and associated tools and utilities is advantageous
- Understanding of XML
- Experience of warehouse and Material Flow systems including Conveyor, Lifters, Stackers etc.

Standard working hours are 37 per week, Monday to Thursday 8 am to 4 pm and Friday 8 am to 3 pm with half an hour for lunch each day. This role involves call out duty (rota) working alternate weeks, 7 days per week (evenings and weekends). Additional payments are made for call outs plus overtime.

Travel to existing and potential new build and/or existing customer sites may be required as well as some nights away from home especially during periods where they are ramping up a new site.

From time to time international travel may also be required to support customers and training.

Salary:
£40,000 to £45,000 dependant on experience plus company car.
