BC64 - Grounds Maintenance Operative
Location: Witney, Oxfordshire
Salary: GBP18,600
Overview:
First Military Recruitment are currently looking for two Grounds Maintenance Operatives for our client who are based in Witney. Our client is set up to provide environmental services and they are looking for two full time operatives to undertake scheduled Grounds Maintenance and gardening activities including maintaining amenity grass areas, public open spaces and private contracts.
Our client encourages application from Ex-Military personnel, but all applications will be considered.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Undertake a wide range of routine grounds maintenance and street scene activities in various locations throughout the District and external locations.
Undertake visual daily checks of the vehicle and trailer before and after use to ensure it is maintained in good working order.
Responsible for driving company vehicles safely around the Witney West Oxfordshire area.
Undertake planning and maintenance of trees, shrubs and annual bedding schemes.
Responsible for the annual maintenance of hedges.
To assist the supervisor and team leader with supervision of temp staff to ensure they are carrying out their duties professionally, safely and efficiently.
Grass care and maintenance; including grass moving using a wide range of mechanical equipment.
Application of pesticides.
Sports grounds maintenance.
The ability and competence to operate a wide range of mechanical mowers and sweepers to provide a clean tidy and pleasant environment to green space and street scene locations.
General cleansing operations to green spaces and street scene locations to include sweeping, litter collection and emptying dog/litter bins.
Snow and ice clearing during the winter period.
Ensure all resources (including vehicles, mowing equipment, plant and tools etc) are used safely, legally and efficiently.
Skills and Qualifications:
Successful candidate will hold a driving license in category B, C or C1 with the ability to tow large trailers.
LGV would be an advantage.
Able to lift heavy objects.
You must have a flexible approach to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Ensure compliance with health and safety policy.
Punctual and reliable with a hard-working ethic.
