HEALTH & SAFETY OFFICER

37.5 HOURS PER WEEK, FULL TIME, PERMANENT

SALARY STARTING AT GBP24,882 PER ANNUM

The Hospice is recruiting a Health & Safety Officer to provide health & safety advice, training and assistance to ensure the Hospice meets its obligations under Health & Safety legislation.

The Hospice is situated in a conservation area at Saint Francis Hospice, The Hall, Havering-atte-Bower, Romford, Essex RM4 1QH. You will be working in a sensitive environment and it is extremely important that you are mindful of this when working near patients and their relatives.

The Health & Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe environment for all staff, volunteers and visitors, management of Health & Safety policies and practices and undertakes the role of Health & Safety Lead person (Level 3) for the Organisation in relation to Health & Safety of all Hospice premises, grounds and Hospice shops.

Responsible for maintenance and development of Health & Safety and Fire Risk Assessments associated documentation, together with delivery of Health & Safety related training to all staff and volunteers. Provides Health & Safety advice to all Hospice departments to ensure compliance and undertakes regular inspections and audits of all premises. Extensive experience of fire safety within a healthcare environment is required.
