We are seeking an experienced journalist with more than two years of experience on an established masthead.
You will be an all-rounder who thrives in the fast-paced world of digital journalism. You will generate your own ideas, cover major breaking news stories and repurpose existing content, ensuring it is rich in digital assets
About the Role:
As a Digital Journalist, you will create and publish content for Media Scotland's digital platforms throughout the news cycle, across a seven-day rota. You will ensure our websites are the first with the news and quickest to react as stories break. You will cover Scottish, British and international news stories, celebrity and sport.
- Covering and updating breaking news.Live blogging.Writing news stories, features, reviews and columns.Helping edit our websites across a seven-day rota.Creating online video content.Generating content ideas.Posting content to social media platforms in line with company strategyUndertaking training to ensure you are up to speed with Media Scotland's technology, systems and best practice.
The ideal candidate:
- Experience in using content management systems to create, edit, manage and publish articles.
- Able to write clear and concise news stories and demonstrate the ability to create online video content.Demonstrate the capability to follow, and react to, changes in technology and trends in digital publishing.Possess a sound knowledge of current affairs, popular culture and sport, particularly for a Scottish audience.Excellent writing and editing skills in order to create and edit articles.A good knowledge of the law in relation to reporting of court cases, defamation, invasion of privacy etcAble to continually display a high level of creativity and originality to ensure our editorial websites progress and continue to grow their audiences.
