Principal Electrical Engineer (C&I Active Vehicle Control)

Would you like to play a key role in the Active Vehicle Control (AVC) team, working on a complex submarine platform? We currently have a vacancy for a Principal Electrical Engineer at our site in either Barrow-in-Furness or Bristol.
As a Principal Electrical Engineer you will be working within the team who are responsible for the implementation of control systems that impact the manoeuvrability of a submarine. You will be working with whole boat systems, ensuring the complex electronics are delivered to a level of high integrity.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to own develop and design a system. You will have the opportunity to progress through this exciting project as the opportunities arise.
Your main responsibilities as a Principal Electrical Engineer will involve:
Preparing design calculations to demonstrate designs meet performance requirements
Supporting the generation of schematic diagrams
Supporting safety analysis
Writing of technical documentation (e.g. management plans, technical specifications, system design descriptions, functional design descriptions and diagrams)
Working across various project groups ensuring the designs meets the required operability, safety, security and supportability requirements
Supporting system design reviews and spatial model reviews
Your skills and qualifications as a Principal Electrical Engineer:
Essential:
Degree or equivalent in electrical/electronic engineering or closely related discipline (or equivalent)
Chartered engineer or working towards
Working knowledge of instrumentation and control system theory
An understanding of electrical circuit design and associated EMC precautions
Desirable:
An Understanding of Safety Integrity Levels and BS EN 61508 or 61511
Knowledge of Model Based Systems Engineering principles
