Key Responsibilities:
Participate in projects, working with designers and other engineers to create build plans, test plans, transition plans and network documentation.
Build, configure and test our networks to demonstrate that they meet the business needs in line with our engineering process.
Document the built environment and operational maintenance plans to allow safe transition to normal operations.
Deliver these changes into our live environments in line with our change management process, ensuring they have gone through an effective peer review and testing process prior to implementation.
Protect the security of our services and data.
Carrying out planned work outside office hours where needed to minimise customer impact.

Skills & Experience

Technical Skills - Essential

CCNP / JNCIP or equivalent level of knowledge
Strong troubleshooting and network diagnostic skills
Experience of large scale ISP network technologies at all layers: MPLS, IPv4/IPv6, ISIS, BGP, QOS, OSPF, NAT, VLAN, STP, VRRP/HSRP, Optical networking
Experience of large scale ISP access services: Ethernet access, Broadband (BNG, L2TP, PPP), IP-VPN (L2 & L3), VoIP
Experience in the planning and implementation of IP peering and transit arrangements
Experience with one or more of the following hardware vendors: Huawei, Juniper, Ericsson
Network and infrastructure security, including firewalls, IPS and IDS
Network lookup and authentication services: DNS, RADIUS, TACACS, Active Directory
Operational tools: RANCID, Nagios, Cacti


Technical Skills - Desirable

Knowledge of fibre and WDM systems
Awareness of mobile data technologies
GEA, EFM and EAD Services
Strong security engineering skills
RADIUS authentication and accounting for DSL services
Broadband delivery using BTW WBMC
Exposure to -48V DC Power systems

You will have a background in the ISP or Telecoms industry and will be working on projects where documentation, testing and deployment make up the majority of your daily activities. Working closely with your team colleagues, you will be a positive communicator and a proactive team member. Your contributions will enhance the overall team’s output and will ensure the successful handover of secure, resilient and high performing network services. You will also work closely with our Operations teams to ensure they have the tools, knowledge and support necessary to operate and manage performance on our network.
