‘See World Class Engineering up close’

Following the announcement of more than £240 million investment at TMUK in 2017, a new and exciting opportunity has arisen to work on upgrades to our new equipment, technologies and systems, enabling ‘World Class’ Manufacturing of the 3rd Generation Auris, showcasing the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform and Hybrid Engine Technologies.

At Toyota, we don't like to keep our customers waiting. So keeping our production line running smoothly is high on our list of priorities. This will be down to you. Working right at the heart of our operation, you'll be a valued member of our dedicated maintenance team with the opportunity to develop and broaden your skills in this most demanding and fast-moving of automotive environments.

What will I do?

As a Maintenance team member, you will maintain the plant’s machinery and equipment, while improving processes to minimise disruption to the line. Working right at the heart of our operation, you’ll be a valued member of our dedicated maintenance team with the opportunity to develop and broaden your skills in this most demanding and fast-moving of automotive environments.

What we look for

If you have the flexibility to work shifts, have a completed a craft/technician apprenticeship and are skilled in PLC programming, pneumatics or electrical systems, please read on.

You should ideally have spent at least two years within maintenance, although we’re happy to consider less or more experience. We’re looking for people who can make a strong contribution to our business, people with a passion for taking the initiative and making things happen.

Above all, you’ll be someone who gets a buzz out of making things better and the commitment to learn and deliver consistently. In return, you can look forward to a work environment that’s built on teamwork and an excellent package of benefits.

Your development at Toyota Manufacturing UK

We place a strong emphasis on teamwork at Toyota Manufacturing UK and while this underpins the success of our manufacturing activities, your individual contribution will be just as important. With this in mind, we’ll ensure you receive training and ongoing support towards your development throughout your time with us.

During your first three months, we‘ll assess your skills in each of the following:

  • Electrical systems
  • Mechanical systems
  • Fluid power systems
  • Toyota maintenance systems

You’re not expected to be skilled in all of these areas and there may be some in which you have no knowledge, however the aim is to assist in tailoring a training programme for you. The training will be on the job training, which will be supported by some off the job training which will take place at our on-site Training Academy.

Our aim is for all of our Maintenance Technicians to be multi-skilled – that’s why our training is designed to enhance your existing skills, as well as build new skills. It will be a steep learning curve and your first 3 years will be spent gaining a great deal of new skills and knowledge. Throughout your career with us, we will continue to support your development, which may even see you specialise in a piece of machinery or equipment to deepen your knowledge further.

In return for our investment, we ask that you’ll be highly committed and motivated in order to put what you’ve learned into practice.

What we offer

The salary for Maintenance team members is circa £40,000 inclusive of shift premium is payable based on a 3 shift pattern plus any overtime.  Your contribution will be recognised by an excellent package of benefits. In addition to an attractive salary, you can look forward to:

  • Pension
  • Life assurance
