Senior Project Engineer

Our client is an independent company that provides automation system services to clients within manufacturing and processing sectors. Providing real-time information on integrated systems, allowing their clients to assess performance of their 24/7 processes and assisting with the implementation of improvements, as well as providing ongoing training and maintenance assistance.

Responsibilities of their Senior Project Engineer:

- Ensure that all their activities are executed in line with the Company Quality Management System.

- Ensure that all relevant procedures, guidelines and working practices reflect latest industry best practices and to actively promote with the Quality Manager or appropriate authority any potential improvements.

- Design, develop and implement specific software / hardware / firmware functions.

- Provide technical support / consultancy to users internally or externally in areas of specialisation.

- Assist the Project Manager in ensuring successful completion of projects.

- Assist in the managing and developing of all staff working on related projects.

- Provide technical direction of and control of work executed on projects, including design documentation, software design and development, system testing in house and on site, installation and commissioning of systems and ongoing support including any customer training.

- Deputise for the Project Manager where necessary and take control of small projects or sub-projects.

- Where appropriate to ensure that customer interfaces on related projects are handled in a highly professional manner that enhances the reputation of the company with that customer.

- Assisting Marketing and Sales function wherever appropriate- this will include but wont be limited to development of solutions and cost estimates.

- Work with other senior members to ensure the best utilisation of staff and that information is shared in a timely manner.

- Preparation of all reports to Project Manager(s) and Company Director(s) in a timely manner.

Skills and experience required of our Senior Project Engineer:

- A high standard of PLC / SCADA / DCS skills, particularly: Siemens PCS 7, S7 / WinCC / TIA Portal, & Rockwell

- Preferably educated to degree level or holder of a recognised professional qualification.

- Previously successfully demonstrated ability to play a leading technical role in project execution.

- A professional individual focussed on delivery of project requirements to customers.

- Understanding of the financial and staff aspects of projects as well as an understanding of the technical considerations involved.

- Capable of representing our client at the highest level externally and internally, formally and informally.

- Possess the breadth and depth of technical experience to be able to contribute to policy making within the company.

- Seek to achieve the highest standards of professional behaviour when dealing with clients, colleagues and staff.

- Experience in system software design from a User Requirements Specification is required.

- Experience in System development and testing is also required, following a formal project lifecycle if possible.
