NHS Scotland's Counter Fraud Service has become aware of potential approaches to individuals which result in requests for payments in connection with applications. Expressions of interest are invited to provide primary medical services under a General Medical Services Contract for approximately 4,889 patients in the Fauldhouse area of West Lothian. The GMS services are provided from leased premises at Breich Valley Medical Practice, Fauldhouse Partnership Centre, Lanrigg Road, Fauldhouse, EH47 2JD and the branch practice at Stoneyburn Health Centre, Sunnyside, Main Street, Stoneyburn, Bathgate EH47 8BY. Recently accredited to ISO15189 by UKAS as a 3-site Blood Sciences service we are looking to expand the use of Point of Care Testing and also to integrate a fourth Highland site into our network, and you will be expected to work with clinicians, management and your teams to facilitate this while at the same time ensuring provision of a safe, effective and efficient service. Please quote reference: IM9_18_38 Closing date for completed applications: Friday 29th June 2018 How to apply: KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO DO THE JOB Essential 1 Accredited Biomedical Science Honours Degree or equivalent 2 Registration with the HCPC which must be maintained. 3 Postgraduate qualification - Master's degree or demonstrable training to equivalent level of knowledge (for example Chartered Scientist (CSci) status). 4 Participation in Continued Professional Development Scheme (e.g. IBMS) including: presentation, attendance/participation at meetings, Journal club, review of scientific papers, other accredited CPD activities. 5 Formal management training in the form of qualification or course attendance. 6 Proven ability to manage staff and other resources gained through extensive previous experience. 7 In depth knowledge of common IT programs and laboratory information management systems. Ability to organise and develop systems within these programs. 8 Extensive experience with Information Technology systems. 9 Proven ability to prioritise and efficiently use working time 10 Extensive experience in COSHH, performance of risk assessments and Laboratory Safety Policies. 11 Knowledge of Quality Assurance programmes applicable to the department. 12 Extensive experience of the complete process of laboratory accreditation and will be able to demonstrate competence by carrying out Risk Assessments, COSHH assessments, writing Standard Operational Procedures and carrying out Audits 13 Understanding of departmental and NHS Highland policies (e.g. PIN policies) including experience applying these with specific reference to: • Confidentiality • Equal Opportunities • Health and Safety (NHS Highland policy and the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974) • Data Protection Act 14 Knowledge and understanding of the educational requirements for the various grades of membership for the IBMS 15 Knowledge and understanding of the educational and training requirements required for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council. Desirable 16 Evidence of continued professional development 17 Fellowship of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences (FIBMS). 18 Experience and advanced theoretical/practical knowledge and technical competence in all aspects of the routine work of a Blood Sciences Department (encompassing a range of routine and highly specialised work procedures possibly outside immediate work area). 19 Specialised knowledge of the theory and practice of blood sciences technique. 20 Knowledge of Laboratory Safety. 21 Experience in Research & Development
