Assuming this new, system wide leadership role as Joint Executive Director for Workforce and OD, you will operate across: Acute Hospitals, Community, Mental Health, Children's and Family Services and Primary Care. You have the opportunity to take a defining role in developing one of the first 'Integrated Care Systems' in the country. With a workforce of approx. 7,000 people that deliver services across many locations covering 4000 square miles of the country's most beautiful scenery, this role presents you with a genuinely outstanding career and life style change opportunity. Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and North Cumbria University Hospitals NHS Trust, have joined forces to build a population health system that consists of integrated health and care provision; communities mobilised at scale for health and wellbeing, operating within a new set of system incentives and behaviours. Realising this vision requires a whole system health and social care effort, combined with the buy in of the local population. This is not something that individual organisations can deliver alone, particularly on the scale of North Cumbria. Leading the development and implementation of the vision for North Cumbria is Stephen Eames, Joint Chief Executive for the NHS provider organisations of healthcare who seeks to complete his single leadership team in this appointment. A critical aspect of this role would be to support Stephen to take forward and embed the required vision, values and behaviours across the workforce; the principal asset, requiring the right level of nurturing and development so that people's potential is maximised and transformation into the highest quality, innovative and successful health and care system is achieved for all communities. Delivering this is an essential requirement of your remit - the transformation is "for everyone and by everyone" and the journey is as important as the destination. Therefore, your political sensitivity and influence should be exceptional. Wider aspects of your role include ensuring: * Management of workforce resources achieves healthcare industry best practice through delivery of an integrated support service that achieves excellent measured performance outcomes. * Culturally, the organisations develop positively as a foundation for high quality care within a learning organisation where "Lean" improvement principals are embedded across the system. * Leadership practice is anchored in an active OD programme approach and supported by effective communications. * Services grow, develop, retain, attract and recruit the workforce needed for the future, based on innovative workforce design and workforce planning. * An authentic approach to Inclusion, Diversity and Equality for all staff exists and that these values foster effective working relationships. You will join and lead an experienced, established group of professional staff and work with a strong team of senior colleagues, this is a high profile role suited to a seasoned, CIPD qualified Director offering significant board level experience. You will have operated effectively within a complex multi stakeholder environment either within the public or private sectors - NHS experience is NOT essential. Your experience will however demonstrate your naturally strong strategic and operational leadership capabilities, together with solid record in delivering complex change / OD programmes that have required you to influence strategically beyond organisational boundaries.
