COMPANY: Our client, based in the Western Isles is a successful well established Civil Engineering and Plant Hire company based in the Western Isles are looking to recruit a Contracts Manager.
SALARY & BENEFITS: Salary negotiable depending on experience
WORKING HOURS: Full Time
THE ROLE The role of the Contracts Manager will be to strategically manage the portfolio of civil engineering construction contracts for a successful and growing Civil Engineering Contractor based in the Western Isles.
Job purpose for the Contacts Manager position:
• To oversee the bid management and successful delivery of a range of interesting projects covering utilities, infrastructure, renewables and general civil engineering works.
• To develop the business and help contribute to the further success of the organisation.
• Be responsible for managing the tender submission process for specific projects, and managing the subsequent delivery strategy, ensuring that innovative solutions can be developed and applied.
• To ensure efficient safe delivery of the projects together with contract compliance and deliver strong commercial results
• As our client values highly our relationships with Clients and supply chains, it will be important that the developing and maintaining of these relationships are a key focus.
• To ensure that all specifications are complied with, monitoring work quality, progress, reporting and ensuring Health and Safety standards are maintained and improved and that risks are understood, mitigated or managed.
Key accountabilities:
• Strategically managing the delivery of Contracts, taking responsibility for Contract Performance, Resource Management, Safety, Quality and Profitability
• Developing site specific policies and operational procedures which fit with the company's values and match the requirements of the client.
• Liaising with client Representatives ensuring positive constructive relationships based on long term objectives.
• Managing and developing staff, ensuring a positive employment culture, implementing effective training strategies and high retention levels.
THE CANDIDATE: The successful Contracts Manager will be a highly motivated individual with excellent team working skills. You must have a commitment to ensuring the highest standards of Health & Safety at all times. Our client is looking for a practical assertive clear thinker with good communication skills and strong interpersonal skills. A good negotiator with a can do attitude is needed for this position.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience:
• Must live within a commutable distance of the Western Isles / North Scotland area
• A track record of construction industry experience in a variety of disciplines and roles with most of this in a construction management role, preferably general Civils construction based.
• Construction Supervision qualification.
• Other appropriate qualifications may be considered.
• Strong commercial awareness
• Skills in risk analysis for construction operations
• Skills in applying the principles of prevention to achieve safe working
• IT literate with experience and working knowledge of Word, Excel and MS Project.
• Experience of CDM regulations.
• Site Health and Safety qualification.
• Safety focussed
• Experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams
