Part of the Energy Operations Team and reporting to the relevent Sector Lead, a Team Leader will manage an engineering/technical team.

Team Leaders are responsible for workload management whilst ensuring compliance with business management systems and providing support to the Sector Leads. The success of the role depends upon effective communication with the team, as well as other Team Leaders across the locations, and the relevant Sector Leads / Business Directors to ensure the best utilisation and deployment of our engineering/technical resource within the Energy business.

A typical week would include:
  • Workload management of staff and updating of the resource planning tool for the team and co-ordination with project managers.
  • Staff development, ensuring that the appraisals process is completed via the online Personal Development Review (PDR) process.
  • Working with the Technical Director, technical leaders and PM leads to ensure that staff training requirements are identified, technical competencies are identified and agreed, and that associated records are kept up-to-date.
  • Working with the Technical Director and technical leaders, ensure technical excellence and ensure that staff with the right skills are doing the work, and that the right staff are doing the technical checking and approval in line with the company procedures.
  • Co-ordination and communication with the Engineering Director to report potential issues of concern including staff issues and flagging up gaps in resource at team meetings.
  • Team motivation and communications.
  • Ensuring compliance with business management systems, including health and safety, quality assurance etc.
  • Having an overview of the team annual leave bookings and timesheet bookings.
  • Ensuring staff have the necessary equipment to undertake their role i.e. computers, desks, software.
  • Resolving any staff issues which impact on performance, prioritisation of work on projects, morale etc. and highlighting any unresolvable issues to the Engineering Director.
  • Supporting the Sector leads as required to assist them either directly with bid activity or to provide technically competent resource where required.
