New Appointments Group are supporting a large and growing Customs Broker in the Dover area in their search for a dedicated Customers Clerk. As a broker of choice, we a looking for a dedicated individual to join the team to provide expert advice to deliver best-in-class services and solutions.

Due to the growth phase within our UK operation we can now offer an exciting Broker opportunity.

Duties:

* You will be responsible for assisting arranging and completing all customs associated paperwork, which documents the nature of the goods being imported or exported from/to abroad and that they are legal and legitimate;
* Import and Export road and sea customs entries via our customs software;
* Imports are generally subject to import quotas, tariffs, trade agreements and HM Revenue and Customs regulations, so as a member of the team your role will involve checking all is in order in this respect;
* The role involves being able to manage deadlines and sometimes difficult situations, therefore an element of negotiation is required in order to be able to meet timescales;
* Helping to organise all shipments with our customers and their customers across the world, ensuring costs and documentation are as scheduled;
* Direct investigations to verify and resolve customer or shipper complaints;
* Customer invoicing;
* Contact and organise services with our partners and suppliers in behalf of our customers;
* Keep updated our database and online system, updating and adding all the information and documentation required;
* Filing;
* Dealing with internal and external stakeholders;
* Any other operations related job required.

* Good organisational, IT and communication skills;
* Excellent planning skills and ability to co-ordinate own work load;
* Be aware of Health and Safety standards, along with a high understanding of dignity and diversity in the workplace;
* Have a methodical and organised approach to work with the ability to think ahead and prioritise tasks;
* The successful applicant will ideally be able to quickly respond effectively to changing demands and be able to apply good problem solving skills;
* Understanding/experience in Import and Export customs entry creation including tariff classification.

Hours are 37.5 hours per week, including some weekend working. Out of hours call out on a rota basis, for which overtime is paid.
