Overview

V Selective Recruitment are managing an exciting vacancy for our Doncaster based client who are growing fire engineering consultancy.

Due current expansion they are wanting to recruit a chartered surveyor with a building control background, who wishes to further their career specialising in fire safety.

We are ideally seeking a Chartered Surveyor / Chartered Building Surveyor with at least 10 years PQE.

The work mainly comprises working alongside contractors and architects and developing their schemes that deliver design solutions which meet the clients' aspirations and satisfy the functional requirements on fire safety.

Much of the work involves using BS 9999 and BS 9991 as well as AD-B and therefore a thorough understanding and working knowledge of these codes is fundamental to the work.

The work involves reviewing architectural drawings and working with the architect in delivering solutions that satisfies the functional requirements on fire safety.

You will be expected to prepare fire safety strategy reports and review these with the client and the Approving Authorities.

Good written and communication skills at meetings are essential to the job.

The work is nationwide although the company office is based in Doncaster in which the majority of the candidate's time will be office-based.

You will be expected to attend client meetings and carry out site inspections to check that fire safety measures have been adequately installed (but not to sign-off) and therefore a good appreciation of the various types of fire safety products and how they are installed is important.

Training can be provided by the company to enhance existing knowledge.

A valid driving licence is essential to the job in which you can use your own car, or a company contract hire car will be made available. Where there is a long-distance meeting, there will be occasional stay overnight in which reasonable hotel and business expenses will be fully reimbursed.

The company will encourage the successful applicant to further their knowledge in fire safety engineering and will make provision to attend courses if desired, as part of their continuing professional development.
