Assistant Legal Officer – Cardiff

Fixed Term Contract for up to 4 months

Full Time

Salary £22,000.00  per annum

Linc has a fantastic opportunity for an Assistant Legal Officer to assist our busy and thriving Corporate Services team over the summer months.

Employing over 600 members of staff, Linc has a strong reputation across South Wales as leaders in the field of high quality social housing, affordable home ownership, Extracare schemes, sheltered housing, nursing homes and enterprise businesses, and we have ambitious plans for growth.

Linc has in excess of 4400 properties and we have a healthy new property development programme in our current business plan. The successful applicant will assist in preparing legal documentation for the Association’s property portfolio to ensure that it can maximise its ability to raise new finance to fund the new property programme.

The role is suitable for someone who is working towards a legal qualification with specialisms towards property and conveyancing. This role would suit a legal undergraduate during the summer recess, also applicants with the necessary knowledge and experience who are seeking a temporary contract.

Key tasks will include:

  • Prepare unencumbered properties with the necessary documentation as required by external Solicitors as security for future financing.
  • Maintain property files for each title containing planning permissions, satisfaction of planning conditions, site investigation reports, building guarantees and warranties, section agreements and other relevant documentation to meet the requirements of lenders and their solicitors.
  • Assist in maintaining an asset register of properties identifying those that are with and those without legal charge.
  • Review and propose revisions where appropriate to property titles and refer any resulting  necessary applications to external solicitors for submission to  the Land Registry.

Strong organisational and administration skills are vital and you must possess a methodical approach to record keeping.

You will need to build strong working relationships with colleagues and third parties including solicitors, Land Registry, Local Authorities and financial institutions, therefore you will need to be able to communicate confidently and effectively.

This is a full time position working 37 hours per week within a flex time system.

The closing date for this position is 23:59 on Sunday 24th June 2018.
