To help deliver our exciting growth plans we are currently seeking two trainees to join our Loughborough head office team in our Quantity Surveying and Engineering departments.

Trainee Quantity Surveyor

In this varied role you will be assisting the Chief Quantity Surveyor and Senior Quantity Surveyors in the day to day running of the Surveying function to effectively manage costs for multiple house building projects.

The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in the construction industry and an aptitude for managing figures and meeting targets. You will benefit from on the job training supported by an experienced mentor and will work towards a professional construction qualification through a structured training programme.

Key job responsibilities include:

• Measure / take-off quantities from technical drawings for use in budgets or tenders.

• Prepare, issue, gather results, analyse and recommend the appointment of sub-contractors

• Assist in the site valuations

• Assist in the preparation of and analysis of quarterly Cost to Value Reconciliations

• Carry out site visits to measure works on site and reconcile against applications for payment from subcontractors

• Assist in administration of S106 affordable houses

• Assist in processing, pricing and procuring customer extras

• Attend college on a day release basis to obtain a relevant qualification

Core competencies required in this role include:

• Good communication skills – both written and verbal

• Organisational and time management skills

• Ability to work as a team and interact with other departments

• GCSE English and Maths grade C and good ICT skils

• Committed to learning, enthusiastic and self-motivated

• Working towards a driving licence
