Governance Officer & Clerk to the Board of Trustees (0.2fte)

Salary: £29,418 (Pro-rata)

This is an exciting opportunity to support the Board of Trustees and to provide them with a high quality, professional and fully compliant governance and administrative service. As Governance Officer & Clerk, you will ensure that the Trust complies with all statutory and regulatory requirements.

In addition to arranging and attending all Board Meetings, you will ensure the timely distribution of papers and minutes. You will maintain accurate records, maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of the laws that affect academy schools, and co-ordinate and advise the Local Governing Bodies and Clerks working in Academies across the Trust. You will also act as Company Secretary for the Trust.

The successful candidate must be an exceptional professional, highly organised, self-motivated with excellent communication skills. You will be familiar with dealing with sensitive matters as well as organising and recording formal meetings. Excellent time management, along with an in depth understanding and knowledge of legislation, guidance and policy regarding school governance would be an advantage. The hours of work are not fixed due to the flexible nature of the role.

The post holder should be able to support all meetings of the Trust (a maximum of 18 per year), with some evening working.
