Berry Recruitment is actively recruiting for a Senior Applications Engineer for our client who support manufacturing companies with their products throughout the World. Our Client currently employs approximately 5000 employees over 190 locations worldwide.
We are looking to recruit a Senior Application Engineer to use the resources available, along with own process knowledge and experience, to support the production process in all areas required to maximise productivity.
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Senior Applications Engineer will be responsible for the process development of new applications and production parts which will involve working closely with customers and the Sales team from enquiry, through to production and delivery to the customer.
Other key responsibilities will also include:
To develop production routes for new parts, create process improvements on existing applications and identify and resolve processing problems that may arise.
Manage tooling design, development and registration within the department and where appropriate ensuring that tooling registration includes the development and maintenance of a tooling catalogue for access by non-engineering department staff.
Take responsibility for inspection and control of the first production parts processed and monitored closely until the process route has been established and handed over to production.
Ensure all phases of work are documented to enable production to control the subsequent processing of parts thereafter. For instance technical drawings, process routes, tooling information and suppliers consumable reorder details.
Project manage tooling costs, process times and material consumption which is vital in assisting the sales department to set a commercially feasible sales prices.
Assisting the Application Engineering Manager in guiding and developing the new and less experienced members of the department.
Take leadership and responsibility for the department in the Application Engineering Manager's absence.
Produce process documentation as it develops, to ensure that process instructions are clear, accurate and updated.
To be considered for this role, you will need to be educated to degree level with a minimum of 5 years industry experience, ideally gained within either Aerospace or Oil & Gas. The ability to programme robotics coupled with experience of SolidWorks is essential. Experience of Thermal Spray processes is desirable.
