Here at Mears Group our vision is to make a positive difference to the communities we serve.

Mears Housing Management is a fast-growing business within the Group and currently manages over 10,500 units across the UK.

An excellent opportunity has now arisen for a Project Coordinator to join us in Luton on a full time, permanent basis. Within this role, you will provide a comprehensive, effective and varied housing service to residents within Luton, in accordance with the organisation’s policies and procedures.

Moving in tenants to properties and demonstrating how to use the equipment in the property, you will arrange follow up settling-in visits and will make sure that each managed property is inspected as per the inspection cycle.

You will also be responsible for assisting the Income Collections Officer to manage the level of rent arrears. This will include regular monitoring of accounts, generation of correspondence, carrying out home visits, collecting rent and top ups, agreeing repayment methods and serving legal notices.

In addition, you will also ensure effective collection of former rent arrears and will investigate, collect information and report on any incidents of nuisance or antisocial behaviour, whilst ensuring appropriate action is taken for any breaches of the tenancy agreement.

In order to be successful in this role, it is essential that candidates have a good level of general education to GCSE standard coupled with previous experience in a similar role; supporting vulnerable people within social housing.

With excellent interpersonal and communication skills, you will be motivated, able to use your own initiative and have the ability to stay calm under pressure.

Strong IT skills (Word and Excel) are also important along with excellent negotiating or organisational skills.

Although not essential, a relevant professional qualification would be advantageous.

Due to the nature of this role, it is essential that you possess a full UK driving licence and are willing to undertake a DBS check. Some weekend working will also be required.
