Supported by a scrum team, the Specialist, Digital Product Owner role at NewDay Cards Ltd will be focused on leading, planning and executing digital changes. These changes result in closer digital integration for both new and existing partners, which will ultimately lead to us welcoming more customers.

Key responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • having responsibility for project success;
  • ensuring on-time delivery to enable the wider Commercial team to deliver against targeted corporated objectives each year, including within P&L;
  • owning the digital roadmap and use that to set the digital delivery agenda, which will include elaboration of epics, features and translation into user stories that can be achieved in a sprint;
  • representing Commercial within the scrum team;
  • being a key driver of scrum team output which includes, but is not limited to designers, developers, BAs and testers;
  • approving user stories and managing backlog;
  • triaging and prioritising reported defects within SIT/UAT;
  • providing continuous feedback loops to the business within PWGs and other key forums;
  • leading any governance processes required for projects eg stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives;
  • working with technical leads to ensure the product design works for both NewDay and retail partners;
  • owning the sign off process for all digital solutions - working closely with key stakeholders throughout the business including IT, Legal and Compliance, Business Transformation, Testing and Co Brands Commercial;
  • owning the customer experience, identifying new opportunities that will enhance the customer experience for all our products;
  • delivering within required internal governance frameworks, and ensuring all activity is in line with regulatory requirements;
  • being expected to influence wider team culture to deliver innovation with a Digital agenda;
  • working closely with the Project Team to ensure digital work streams adhere to agreed deadlines and are satisfied with solutions, testing strategy, defect management and overall business readiness for launch;
  • being the subject matter expert for digitally integrated credit propositions within the business and through review of wider market place;
  • managing relationships with all key internal and external stakeholders; and
  • following and leveraging key governance processes to ensure Digital propositions are well considered and risks are understood and managed.

Criteria for selection

The candidate must possess the following attributes:

  • have relevant New Product Development experience with evidence of bringing digital programmes to market that meet business case expectations;
  • have an understanding of User Experience and Web Design would be advantageous;
  • have a robust understanding of digital customer experience (and optimisation) covering new customer acquisition, transacting and servicing;
  • have Product Management experience in Consumer Lending Product set (Credit Cards, Loans, POS);
  • have experience in managing high profile strategic digital change programmes in a demanding environment to tight deadlines – ideally working across internal functions to deliver plans and through external Partnership channels;
  • have a track record of delivery within a scrum using an iterative/agile methodology (eg Agile/SCRUM) and experience of agile collaboration tools (eg Atlassian Jira, Confluence);
  • have the ability to contribute to the continual improvement of the Project team, including ideas for new processes and methodologies;
  • have strong digital capabilities and a deep understanding of how digital solutions can improve customer experiences as well as application and conversion rates;
  • have a strong command of numbers and analytics;
  • have a strong track record in building and managing third party relationships;
  • have strategic relationship management skills;
  • have excellent interpersonal skills - oral/written communication, collaboration & influencing skills;
  • be able to identify relevant industry standards and emerging opportunities;
  • have relevant subject matter expert knowledge including regulatory knowledge in credit card marketing;
  • have good organisation and planning skills;
  • be able to pre-empt potential risks and undertake appropriate mitigation actions;
  • be able to influence and manage at all levels of the business;
  • be dynamic and highly motivated;
  • be entrepreneurial and a problem solver;
  • be a team player willing to get stuck in and roll their sleeves up;

Salary: £45,000 - £55,500 per annum
