Office Manager for Janet Finch-Saunders AM Salary range: £24,632 - £34,765 (pro-rata)

(5 point scale, appointment will only be above point 1 in exceptional circumstances)

Working hours: 29.6 per week

The Assembly Member for Aberconwy is seeking applications from potential candidates for the Office Manager position to: manage and oversee the day-to-day running of the Assembly Member’s office and staff; drive forward proactive and swift casework resolution; and co-ordinate constituency-wide engagement programme and promotion of the Member’s work

Main duties:

  • Manage other team members reporting to the Assembly Member, including the recruitment and supervision of staff, performance management and other personnel related issues as required.
  • Manage office systems, oversee office activities, organisation of workload, working closely with other staff members to provide a cohesive team approach
  • Provide a comprehensive secretarial, casework, research and administrative support service, as required. Respond to e-mails, letters and similar enquiries in a professional, customer focused manner, and draft letters on behalf of the Assembly Member, on a range of issues.
  • Ensure regular constituency visits to schools, businesses, groups, and relevant organisations are received for the Assembly Member, manage the Member’s diary, make travel arrangements and ensure that all engagements are organised professionally
  • Arrange surgeries and public meetings and offer support on the day
  • Assist in the preparation and organisation of specific campaigns
  • Represent the member in a professional and effective manner in dealings with the media, constituents and other outside bodies

Essential Qualifications

  • Degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject or;
  • NVQ Qualification level 3 or 4 or equivalent in Office Administration, Customer Service or a relevant subject

  • Ability to investigate, analyse and recommend solutions to complex problems and issues
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a wide variety of people, professionals and organisations
  • Ability to manage a demanding workload with conflicting priorities
