LOCATION: Tonbridge

JOB TITLE: Lecturer in Agriculture

SALARY & BENEFITS: GBP23,903 - GBP32,157 dependant on skills and experience + pension + health cash plan + free car parking + 7 weeks holiday (excludes bank holidays)

Subsidised accommodation is available for this position, with a requirement to undertake weekend duties on the farm.

WORKING HOURS: 37 hours per week

THE COMPANY: We are currently working with Kent's premier land-based College and is one of the leading colleges in the United Kingdom. They have a thriving and dynamic agriculture department, teaching a wide range of levels from school students through to further education. They are now looking to recruit a highly motivated Lecturer to join the Agriculture team.

THE ROLE: As the Lecturer in Agriculture you will be working in collaboration with the Head of Faulty and Team Leader to drive forward the colleges strategic initiatives. You will provide up to 782 hours teaching per year to students of all ages.

Key Responsibilities for the Lecturer in Agriculture role to include:-
  • To teach and give practical instructions on full time/part time and short courses
  • To be responsible for course supervision
  • To undertake initial assessment
  • To undertake functional skills assessments
  • To be responsible for withdrawing and transferring students
  • To prepare course outlines and schemes of work
  • To be responsible for student attendance and punctuality
  • To write memorandum/correspondence/reports, as required, appropriate to the post

THE CANDIDATE: The successful applicant will have the ability to work flexibly and be adaptable to new methods and ways of working. You will have good written and oral communication skills along with being able to provide quality in the delivery of services. Ideally you will have experience teaching with a track record teaching to all levels, however this is not essential.

Key experience essential for the role of the Lecturer in Agriculture:-
  • Willing to complete a DBS check at employment stage
  • Hold a recognised Teaching qualification, or the willingness to work towards one
  • English and Maths at Level 2 or equivalent
  • Level 3 vocational qualification in Agriculture
  • At least 3 years relevant post qualification experience in the agricultural industry
  • Experience of successfully devising lesson plans / course outlines and successfully completing on-going assessments of students
  • Live within a commutable distance to Tonbridge
