We are looking for a construction health and safety specialist with a strong construction site and CDM management background to join our team of health and safety professionals.
The construction specialist is responsible for the development, implementation and review of construction related hazard advice and guidance to ensure that the University maintains its compliance with the regulations.
The main function of the role is to provide professional construction health and safety monitoring arrangements including audits and to develop competence standards for key roles within the University to ensure legal compliance and best practice is implemented by consultants and contractors employed to undertake construction works.
As a construction specialist, the role will contribute to the portfolio of the Construction, Fire and Engineering safety team and will provide a key service to the university’s estate management activities.
Ideally, the successful candidate will have a proven track record of construction management ranging from large capital projects to smaller refurbishment works in the higher education and/or research sectors or similar environments. You will be a chartered member of the Institution of Occupational Health and have CITB site management qualifications or equivalent. Significant practical experience of construction site management would also be a distinct advantage.
