Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 DOE

Job Type: Permanent, Full time - 41 hrs

Established for over 35 years and now one of the North West's leading & multi award winning Engineering companies, the Company is looking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic Supervisor to join their team at MTL Advanced, based in Rotherham.

Job Role:

To ensure that the Company is adhering to all the relevant Health and Safety legislation that support ISO 18001. To offer expert knowledge and skills in order to generate and promote a positive health and safety culture. Responsible for ensuring that all safety legislation is adhered to and policies and practices are adopted. To plan, implement, monitor and review the protective and preventative measures that we as a business follow, and work to minimize operational losses, occupational health problems, accidents and injuries. To ensure the continuing improvement of product and process quality within MTL Advanced.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To co-ordinate and assist the Management Team with the Company's Health and Safety Annual Plan
  • To support and train Managers with the implementation of Risk Assessments
  • Provide effective communications between all relevant departments to promote best Health & Safety practices
  • To co-ordinate accident investigation, record and graph all accident data and to use the data to promote a no accident environment and culture
  • To work closely with Production and Project Engineers to implement safety improvement opportunities whenever possible
  • Ensure provision and coordination of the documentation, training, facilities and equipment required to undertake personal and Company responsibilities for occupational health, safety and welfare
  • Monitor and amend the OHS Policy to ensure that the stated commitments are undertaken and the results passed to Senior Management and are actioned
  • Ensure that Safe Systems of Work are developed and Permits to Work are issued and controlled as necessary
  • Instigate regular Safety Committee Meetings and ensure items discussed are agreed and actioned
  • Ensure provision of occupational health & safety data for equipment and products used within the business
  • Ensure Emergency Plans and Evacuations are developed and practiced
  • Identify specific training needs for Induction and Hazardous activities
  • Quality Management system audit program management
  • Supplier quality assurance & supplier quality development
  • Involvement within New Product Introduction Process, assessment and provision of project resource requirements
  • Management of the inspection function and prioritisation of activities
  • Management of the quality engineering function
  • Development and training of staff to department training matrix, and in support of business planning requirements
  • Management of Concession Process Development of Internal Quality Standards
  • Management and monitoring of the CCIR process
  • Management and involvement within departmental and cross functional improvement teams
  • Project management of process variation reduction and continuous improvement teams
  • Quality Department budget management
  • Training and development of quality department staff

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • NEBOSH Qualification
  • Previous Health & Safety knowledge and experience along with FLT/Noise/COSHH essential
  • Knowledge of Safe Lifting & Slinging requirements
  • Ability to organize both in house and external training modules
  • Ability to work effectively, lead and manage others to achieve desired results
  • Management experience
  • A minimum HND / or equivalent in a related Engineering or Quality related discipline
  • 3 years' experience within a similar role
  • Back ground of working within an ISO / TS / QS management system in a similar industry
  • Advanced Product Quality Planning Techniques (Control Charting, PFMEA, Process Flow Analysis)
  • Statistical Process Control / Statistical Analysis
  • Root Cause analysis and closed loop problem solving
  • Process and systems approach to quality management
  • Mistake proofing and defect prevention
  • Compiling Quality Reports for Management Reviews
  • Previous experience of CNC Press Braking, CNC machining, Fabrication or assembly is desirable.
