THE COMPANY
Westray Recruitment Consultants is working with a growing security and electronics manufacturer to source a Test Engineer. The role will be working on site in Gateshead and will involve the testing of electronic and software systems, mainly including IP based vision systems. The successful candidate will be highly analytical and systematic and will ideally hold a relevant software degree.
THE ROLE
-Testing of System Software for projects (customer, development and Legacy)
-Testing support to the Software development team i.e. bug fixes, investigations etc.
-Build, test and commission test walls and associated equipment including cable harnesses
-Support testing activities at customer site where necessary
-Creation of test plans, specifications and reports
-Carry out testing of electronic systems or part of in conjunction with the Engineering teams
-Ensuring that Engineering standards are defined and achieved relating to all testing aspects
-Ensuring test area is correctly equipped, safe and organised at all times
-Ensuring that Engineering processes are in place and meet the business needs of the company
-To continually look for improvement in the Engineering delivery of projects
-Test equipment identification, planning and control
-Control engineering issues through live tracking system
THE EXPERIENCE
-Degree level qualified in engineering discipline
-Previous experience as a Systems / Software Test Engineer, Testing using script driven systems, pref. Python, Robot Framework
-Experience of networked system, software development (desirable) and software testing of Embedded Systems
-Software / communication engineering knowledge
-Understanding of Linux operating systems is (desirable)
-Excellent oral, interpersonal and written communication skills
-Strong time management and self-motivation
-Attention to detail and able to apply a logical and common sense approach to Engineering delivery

-Analytical and systematic individual
-Methodical approach to problem solving
-Desire to investigate and utilise new technologies and methods
-Ability to adapt skills in a dynamic environment
-A team player, able and willing to support others
-Ability to work on single-person projects and tasks

THE CONTRACT
This position is a permanent role offering great company benefits. The hours of work are 37.5 hours which includes day shift with an early finish on a Friday.
THE SALARY
The role is offering a very competitive salary package depending upon experience.
