Solicitor (Debt Recovery)

Sewell Wallis are currently working on an exciting opportunity to work for a specialist law firm in Leeds City Centre.
The job
Running own caseload of non-standard litigation cases, effective and professional handling of client instructions as well as assisting with providing high quality know how and legal support to other departments/junior members of team.
Duties
The role with entail the following:
•issuing pre-action letters and commencing proceedings for possession of properties subject to LPA Receivership;
•advising Receivers and/or lenders on complex/technical issues which may arise from the litigation and ensure possession is secured via a County Court warrant or High Court writ;
•assisting with commercial and property litigation matters on behalf of administrators and liquidators including making section 234 and 236 (Insolvency Act 1986) applications to court;
•issuing and serving statutory demands, winding up petitions and bankruptcy petitions;
•assisting with defending proprietary claims against administrators and liquidators;
•registering administrator and liquidator appointments at the Land Registry; and
•researching and advising on various areas of insolvency law; and
•preparing bundles and instructing Counsel.
In addition to the above, there is also the requirement to assist with the volume based debt recovery litigation for various lenders, banks and mortgage companies.
Based in Leeds on a day to day basis though some travelling to clients and attendance at court will be required
Overnight stays away may be required
The person
You will have the following skills/experience:
•Be educated to degree level or equivalent (preferably in law)
•General civil litigation experience
•Experience in debt recovery litigation with particular experience of insolvency is desirable but not essential:
•Experience of running their own caseload
•Competence in the use of MS Word and Excel
•Experience in using a case management system
•Flexible approach to working arrangements
•Able to satisfactorily meet the requirements of pre-employment checks
