Assistant Farm Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Farm Manager within our Turkey division. Joining our Thorton Farm YO24 4RU.

As an Assistant Farm Manager you will will be supporting the Farm Manager to manage the day to day running of the farm within company parameters and consistently operate to the highest standards of husbandry and management, in order to optimise the flock performance, and provide a profitable, efficient operation. Maintain best in class standards in bird welfare, bio-security, farm security and health & safety.

Main Responsibilities of an Assistant Farm Manager:

?? To manage the farm on a day to day basis ensuring that it is operating within company parameters and achieving optimum productivity, efficiency and profitability.
?? Follow the management systems, controls and production programmes as laid down in the company's 'code of practice', and to ensure all records and production conditions are maintained on a daily basis.
?? Facilitate and assist the efficient housing of the birds and ensure the required checks and adjustments are conducted with respect to temperature, ventilation, drinker (height/pressure) feeders and bedding/shavings levels.
?? Check stock weight as instructed to monitor performance.
?? Recognise health and production problems and take the appropriate action.
. To ensure all external audits, including 'farm assured' such as Red Tractor Farm are within guidelines set down by the company
. To demonstrate year on year improvements to audit results

To be successful in the role of Assistant Farm Manager you need:

?? NVQ / Diploma in Poultry Production Level 3 (to be completed with company if not already attained)
?? Good standards of education
?? Numerate & Literate
?? Good Organisational Skills
?? Effective communicator
?? To have the ability to run the farm with little guidance from the Breeding & Hatchery Manager
