We have a new exciting opportunity, not to be missed! YMCA Birmingham is currently looking for a Scheme Officer to join our team based in Central Birmingham (Aston & Hockley). You will join us on a full time, permanent basis working 37.5 hours per week working on a rota in line with the business needs, to include days, evenings and weekends and in return you will receive a salary of £19,209.66 per annum.
YMCA Birmingham is a Christian charity providing a range of life-changing services for the local community. With a turnover of over £4m, we house over 300 young people, most of whom previously were homeless, and support them to get their lives back on track. We also care for 150 pre-school children in our three nurseries and run various social enterprises to create employment and generate income for our charitable work.
With over 120 Staff and volunteers working for us and thousands of people using our many premises every year, we are an organisation committed to delivering the best possible service to our customers in line with our Christian ethos and values.
The Scheme Officer role:
As our Scheme Officer, you will be required to effectively access and implement a programme of support within the Supporting People framework. You will be required to undertake a variety of tasks ranging from assisting in the processing and assessment of applications to be housed at the scheme to void checks. It will also involve supporting the team to deliver a high-quality rent collection and arrears recovery service, whilst ensuring accurate records are kept on each tenant using our internal Housing Management System. You will need the ability to handle resident issues, such as anti-social behaviour.
To excel in the Scheme Officer role, you will need experience in housing management or supported housing and income management or debt recovery/collection (preferably in a social housing environment), and a working knowledge of housing issues and legislation, particularly pertaining to homelessness. You will also demonstrate excellent communication skills, with the ability to listen, question and influence when needed.
You will be based predominantly in Aston, whilst also occasionally providing cover for our scheme in Hockley when needed, so the ability to travel between the two is essential.
Closing Date: Friday 15th June 2018 at 12pm.
