Our Client is looking to recruit a Transport/Admin Clerk based in Hemel Hempstead and is offering an attractive salary package to the right candidate.

Main Duties:

As a Transport Clerk you will be responsible for supporting the planning and execution of the Transport operation, encompassing over 170 drivers and a fleet of over 100 vehicles.

The role will be in a fast paced, time critical and results driven environment, with the expectation of ensuring the workforce is engaged, well managed and perform to the highest standard.

You will be working within a dynamic and forward-thinking team, which will be focused on driving performance to meet our customer’s key performance indicators, as well as acting as an advocate of the businesses culture, values and safety standards. The role requires drive, ambition, tenacity, a key eye for detail and good people skills.

An appetite for responsibility and confidence in decision making is critical, as the role is intended to be a stepping stone into management development. The role is based on nights working any 5 from 7, and we operate as a 24/7 business, so you will need to be flexible with your working hours to meet operational demand.


The Role:
  • Assisting the Transport Manager in their duties to co-ordinate and manage the drivers’ workloads including start times, routes and departures.
  • Regularly checking through the driver’s trips on tracking systems (Microlise) to monitor progress, and liaising with clients regarding deliveries to deliver a first-class service.
  • Support the management team in delivering best practice regarding Legal compliance and its safety agenda, ensuring the team understand the importance of being safe in the workplace at all times. 
  • Having a clear operational plan, always bearing in mind the bigger picture and the end customer whose standards and expectations we need to meet, whilst improving the teams cost performance
  • To assist with co-ordinating the planned maintenance of the company’s transport fleet and the associated administration. 
  • To operate an efficient administration system ensuring all paperwork/communications are dealt with promptly and efficiently. 
  • Ensuring that all members of the operational team have clear goals and objectives.

  • Capable of taking initiative through thinking outside of the box and thinking on your feet, as well as displaying the ability to meet deadlines and work unsupervised to meet targets.
  • An innovative approach, capable of being creative and implementing new ways to improve performance.  A passion for working with people and excellent relationship building skills, through effective communication, verbal and written.
  • Strong computer skills – Able to effectively use Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • A passion to learn and progress, coupled with a willingness to take on responsibility and decision making.
  • Able to prioritize your workload under pressure in a fast-paced environment and respond positively to changing priorities.

Salary £25,000
