RUMINANT CONSULTANT (SPECIALIST)
Scotland – location flexible
£Attractive salary                                 Ref: C/FRBS/087/17

SRUC is unique in Scotland and one of the largest organisations of its kind in Europe.  We work at local, national and international levels, leading innovation and sustainable development in agriculture and rural sectors.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Ruminant Consultant (specialist) to join the SAC Consulting Livestock Team.  We aim to recruit someone with an excellent understanding and knowledge of the livestock sector in Scotland, experience of communicating to farmers as well as industry, sound technical expertise and have an ability to write articles for press and internal publications.

The role is extremely varied, with flexibility to allow those with a passion to develop further in their own specific area of ruminant work.  Key roles include providing technical consultancy to farmers on ruminant livestock (beef, sheep, deer, etc.) and associated business matters, providing back-up to Consulting colleagues transferring knowledge, forming close links with industry, carry out project work, presenting at farmer meetings, writing articles for publications such as Beef & Sheep News and internal training to name a few.

Besides a degree or equivalent qualification and experience in ruminant consultancy, the appointee will be organised, proactive, and demonstrate enthusiasm and an ability to motivate change.  A current full, driving licence is essential for this role as travel to SAC/SRUC locations across Scotland will be required.

The posts will be based in Scotland – there is scope for flexibility in the actual location.  The salary package is attractive, and will be based on skills, experience and qualifications.

Closing date:   26th June 2018

Please note that CVs will not be accepted without a completed application form.
