Target salary dependent on experience is to CGBP40K plus benefits package.
THE COMPANY;
My client is a reputable, continually expanding food manufacturing company which specialises in the creation of a huge variety of foods and sauces. Their customers include ALL of the UK's biggest and leading supermarket chains! Due to organic growth and acquisition they now seek to hire a new NPD Manager to lead a small but growing team of New Product Development Technologists with food manufacturing backgrounds in Thatcham near Newbury.
THE ROLE;
Your role will be varied and stimulating.You'll oversee the NPD process from concept stage to product approval and launch, creating commercially viable products that encompass the latest food trends whilst ensuring customer budgets and timescales are met. You'll also be using your extensive food knowledge to coordinate, manage and deliver persuasive presentations for new projects as well as working with internal teams and a key customer to really drive innovation forward.
Your duties will include but not be limited to leading a small team of NPD Technologists with the following responsibilities;
Project Management
• To understand, co-ordinate & manage the NPD process for Retail own label and contract pack food products.
• Develop food product ideas and concepts into viable finished food products.
• Manage critical paths for specific categories / business and plans to deliver new product development concepts to an agreed quality and timescale.
• Liaise with all internal departments & external resources in order to launch new lines.
• Create kitchen samples for new products.
• Present ideas and concepts to customers on or off site in terms of product, packaging and all supporting rationale & data.
• Ensure that all validation work is carried out on recipe suggestions as per retailers' procedures.
• Attend and, where necessary, co-ordinate factory trials ensuring they are carried out in the correct manner and that all information generated is recorded and communicated accurately, efficiently & in a timely manner.
• Create Quality Attribute sheets for new product launches.
Customer Development, Account Management and General;
• Support the account management and marketing functions by a close working relationship with internal and external customers.
• Have a good working knowledge of company systems, procedures and be confident to challenge, improve and evolve them.
• Build a portfolio of inspiration cues and own personal knowledge in competitors' activities in the market.
• Continually build recipe ideas and constantly look for inspiration for new ideas and avenues for the Company to explore via internal or external influences.
CANDIDATE PROFILE;
- Both NPD Manager and Senior Product Development Technologists / Lead NPD Technologists are welcome to apply!
- You'll have a proven track record of driving the development of new products where you have delivered presentations and established great relationships with customers. You must also excel in a customer focused role, have superb interpersonal and communication skills coupled with a resourceful and flexible approach to the NPD process in order to lead your team to deliver successful innovation projects.
- University qualification (food related degree).
- Experience of working as a NPD Manager OR Senior NPD Technologist / Lead New Product Developer who has led or mentored more junior New Product Developers within a product development function of a food manufacturer
- Process oriented but with hands on attitude.
- IT literate - Microsoft Office.
- Data interpretation and analysis.
- Strong and confident communicator - written and verbal.
- Attentive to detail and well organised.
- Adaptable/flexible and able to work to tight deadlines.
- Drive and passion for food.
- Logical thought process.
- Team player
