Do you want to help to make a difference to children's everyday experience of going to school?
In ESFA Capital Group - a vital part of the Department for Education - we build and refurbish schools, providing the nation's children with modern, vibrant and inspiring environments in which to learn and grow. We're one of the largest public sector construction clients in England, with a capital budget of GBP22.5bn, and over 600 live school construction projects.
There's a shared sense of pride amongst our 500-strong team knowing the real difference a great school with modern facilities can make to local communities. And there's nothing better than seeing the excitement of children, teachers and parents as our projects take shape on sites.
Our work is every bit as complex and commercially challenging as any you'll find in the private sector, but it's a great feeling to know that we're doing this for a purpose, not for a profit.
Your Role
As a Project Manager for our schools building programme, you'll be managing the development and end-to-end delivery of a batch of 5-6 school construction and/or refurbishment projects. You'll oversee a multi-disciplinary team of internal colleagues and external contractors, working closely with schools, Academies and local authorities, to deliver projects to time and budget. Similarly, the Local Delivery Project Manager will be part of a multi-disciplinary team and will support the management and delivery of the government's investment programme for schools.
You'll work on a range of projects, of varying complexity, giving you scope to develop a wide skill-set, and acquire a unique range of experience during your time with us. Examples of the kind of projects we're currently working on include:
• Whole new build primary and secondary schools in locations all over the country.
• Refurbishment and remodelling of listed buildings.
• Relocation of schools to new sites include school mergers and school expansions.

In person, you will be driven and enthusiastic with an engaging manner, challenge-orientated and solution-focussed.

You'll be asked as part of the application form to specify the location(s) you want to be considered for. Please note, we will not meet relocation expenses or home-to-office travel costs.
