Our client's leading UK ports business is seeking an experienced Transport Manager to join their friendly team at Teesport. Working in a busy department they offer an exciting new opportunity to work with the existing Transport Manager to assist with the continued growth of the company's modern distribution fleet. The Transport Manager will ensure the smooth running of day to day operations and implementation of successful contract wins. In addition, the Transport Manager will ensure full compliance with regard to transport regulations. This is a fast-paced port operation and the Transport Manager will thrive on providing a first-class transport service to customers. The company pride themselves on their modern fleet of vehicles and equally up to the minute transport planning system (shortly to be introduced).

Key Transport Manager Responsibilities:

  • Managing a fleet of 30 vehicles and 80 trailers with the latest technology, sub-contractors and agency drivers
  • Brief and de-brief drivers
  • Ensure compliance with Operator's Licence and associated Transport Legislation
  • Back load vehicles throughout the UK, ensuring cost efficiencies
  • Ensure vehicle service levels are maintained at all times
  • Investigate operational failures and implement continuous improvement
  • At all times ensure the Company's Health & Safety Policy is adhered to
  • Strive to develop excellent communications skills with clients, colleagues and drivers

Personal Specification – Transport Manager:

  • Experiences in all aspects of transport management including bulk tippers, flatbed trailers, curtain-siders and containers
  • Backloading experience
  • Up to date knowledge of Transport Legislation
  • Excellent UK geographical knowledge
  • International CPC desirable, but not essential
  • Good team player, able to add support to the team and help develop and grow the business
  • Good Microsoft skills
  • Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written
