Daresbury, Warrington (with some travel to conferences in Europe, the USA and Australia)

About the Company
Our client is a multi-award winning, UKAS accredited Contract Research Organisation (CRO). Offering both standard and customised microbiology testing services, they have extensive experience of developing fit-for-purpose experiments that mimic real-life scenarios.
With Scientists that specialise in antimicrobial, biofilm, viral, fungal and cellular research, our client delivers leading services to customers from a range of sectors.
Now, they’re looking for a Senior Microbiologist to join them at their site in Daresbury Science Park, an internationally recognised hub of world-class science, innovation and enterprise.

The Role
As the Senior Microbiologist, you’ll develop, carry out and report on bespoke microbiological assays for customers.
Specifically, you will:
- Oversee a number of customer projects
- Lead a team of Microbiologists and Laboratory Technicians and assist with training
- Communicate with customers regarding their requirements
- Carry out testing and participate in competency assessments
- Plan projects, produce work plans and analyse and interpret test results
- Help to maintain laboratory equipment
- Assist with research and development programmes that support the service side of the business
- Potentially produce scientific literature and present data at conferences and customer meetings
About You
To be considered, you’ll need:
- A PhD in Microbiology, Virology, Biofilmology or similar
- A strong work ethic
- Excellent communication skills
- A highly-organised approach
- A great eye for detail
It would be great if you had some practical work experience outside of academia, but this isn't essential. Experience with statistical packages such as Minitab, SPSS or similar would also be an advantage.
