Whitgift is a leading independent day and boarding school for boys, with approximately 1460 pupils including over one hundred boarding pupils and flexi boarding pupils.  It is set in an attractive 48-acre parkland site in South Croydon enjoying excellent links to London, Surrey and the south coast.

We are seeking to appoint an Assistant Matron who is enthusiastic, flexible and organised individual to look after the boarding pupils. The position is available from September 2018 and the role will cover two main functions:

  • Pastoral and health care
  • Housekeeping or House administration

The appointment of Assistant Matron is an important role within the Boarding House, involving significant responsibility, and the success of the appointment will depend on the strength and quality of their relationships with the pupils, the Housemaster and the rest of the House team.  The successful candidate will be expected to make the boys ‘feel at home’ and ensure that they are well cared for pastorally and domestically.

In return we offer a generous salary and benefits package including a money purchase pension scheme (plus Life Assurance Cover), Employee Discount Club, discounted school fees for the Foundation Schools, discounted off-peak membership at our on-site gym (Nuffield Health), membership of a healthcare plan, a range of family-friendly benefits and season ticket loan.

We welcome applications from all sectors of our community as we aspire to attract staff that match the social and cultural diversity of our student intake.
