We are seeking an experienced person to join our team as a heat treat technician at our long-established facility in Coopers Plains, Brisbane. The position will be within our aerospace team and requires a high level of understanding of quality accreditations and systems. Applicants are required to have extensive heat treatment experience and can take up a senior position immediately. Salary consistent with MTI recommendations.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE:
- Hands-on experience with seal quench furnaces, vacuum furnaces, nitriding and vacuum brazing
- Vacuum furnace processing experience in commercial tool steels and aerospace alloys
- Experience in calibrating electronic/electrical measuring instruments; such as pyrometry, temperature, heat, thermocouple and measuring instrumentation; to NADCAP/AMS2750 requirements.
- Experience in vacuum brazing of steel and aluminium desirable but not essential
- Experience with material coupon preparation, micro-section and hardness checking as well as operating procedures and effectual jigging techniques
- Experience in various material testing processes
- High-level decision-making ability, utilising good judgment in determining the appropriate guideline, procedure, and application to utilise in solving problems
- Able to work on own initiative and use common sense; willing to learn and be ambitious.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform heat treating according to customer, quality or HTA specifications
- Operate ovens, quench tanks and all other equipment and machinery in the work centre according to work orders, worksheets and supervisor instructions.
- Relay all necessary information regarding ongoing heat treat operations to other operators when changing shifts or leaving the area.
- Communicate effectively and efficiently within the working environment, reporting any problems or potential problems to supervisors.
- Training, assisting and supervising less qualified employees in the heat treat process.
- Maintain a flexible approach with a willingness to work as part of a team, working in other areas as needed.
- Assist in maintaining a continuous improvement and Nadcap focused environment.
- Maintain a clean, safe work environment.
