Product Manager - Located in Spalding

Key Relationships: Quality Supervisors, Senior Production Supervisors, Technologists, Technical Managers & Procurement Teams for assigned products.

Purpose:

1 To proactively provide the business with knowledge & expertise on assigned products.
2 To proactively own & be the 'go to' person within the business for quality related topics for assigned products.
3 To lead by good example and provide balanced opinion.

Key Responsibilities:

1 To operate in accordance with all my clients policies, the QMS & its procedures, customer COP'S & within the principles of HACCP.
2 Support in the training & development of product knowledge within the business.
3 Be fully engaged with the setting of customer standards.
4 To understand differing customer's specifications & ensure that food safety, supplier approval & quality compliance is achieved at all times.
5 To take ownership of & manage the lifespan & quality of assigned products.
6 To work closely & in conjunction with the quality, commercial & technical teams for your assigned area, ensuring all quality related concerns are effectively communicated and managed.
7 Compliance with the companies H&S policy is maintained at all times.
8 Support the maintenance and implementation of all agreed corrective, preventative action & root cause analysis of customer rejections/issues.
9 Support the development & implementation of agreed departmental objectives.

Scope of Responsibilities:

Meetings:

1 To attend and play an active role in any relevant meetings that you are required to attend, taking the lead in discussion of the quality of your category and applying/demonstrating your Subject Matter Expertise.

Storage

1 Your assigned products are stored within the correct temperature environments/regimes and used in the correct rotation, supporting and challenging the material release process.

Product Management

1 Build a knowledge of your category and products throughout the year, applying this and structured problem solving and investigation methodologies to benefit the business, suppliers and customers.
2 Identify and communicate any gaps in knowledge to your line manager and work with them and the wider technical and procurement teams to close these gaps always aspiring to deliver industry leading insight.
3 Alongside the QA team take the lead to identify & agree products required for review.
4 Manage customer returns, by means of the Returns Procedure & Returns Rejection Log, to facilitate the best usage/reallocation of returns in a timely manner whilst investigating root cause and, to help implement corrective actions and take accountability for their execution and follow up.
5 Advise & challenge the commercial & technical teams on best usage/yield & best quality fit for allocation of products for specific customers.
6 Support and challenge the management of the dwell time of products and pursue allocation/usage of "distressed" stock.
7 Ensure accurate product segregation during packing operations to reduce waste & reject rates.
8 Monitor & investigate high pull out rates.
9 Have an overview of other non-assigned categories to allow suitable levels of support to fellow Product Managers & cover when required.
10 Engage with suppliers & customers proactively representing GYFR UK and applying/demonstrating your SME status.
11 Good understanding of the ERP stock system and working relationships with warehouse teams.

Documentation

1 Provide additional reports & analysis of products as and when deemed critical.
2 Provide reports and recommendations following investigations and knowledge exchanges.
3 Provide support in creation of product specification requirements for the Electronic QQ System.

Visits

1 Participate in any required retailer, supplier, surveyor & depot visits always demonstrating and applying your SME knowledge to benefit the company.

Other

1 Promote & maintain the company's "Clean as you go" policy.
2 Promote and maintain the company's implementation of "Lean" manufacturing.
3 Play an active role in the creation or sign off of required samples.
4 The initial reference point or quality contact for key quality decisions/support during weekends (on rota basis).
