Job Purpose:
To work as part of a team to assist in delivery of reinforcement projects within the Central London area. This includes liaison with customers, engineers and contractors as required.
The position, working as part of the Central London team will be responsible for carrying out jointing and fitting works on the HV and LV networks.

Principle Accountabilities:

  • Testing and switching on the LV network - and understanding the results of the tests and acting appropriately
  • High Voltage cable jointing
  • Low Voltage cable jointing and Fault Location
  • Movement of heavy plant
  • Movement of Oil
  • Any other relevant jointing duties
  • Supervision of excavating teams
  • Understanding and providing updates for operational and 1:500 diagrams,
  • Use of appropriate IT equipment including Toughpad equipment
  • Immediate supervision of Craft Attendant.

Nature and Scope

The person undertaking this role plays a vital role in the safety management of the team. The Company is regulated by various guidelines, and this role is particularly important in ensuring successful compliance with Customer Minutes Lost and Customer Interruption targets. The job holder may be required to work at any location within the UK Power Networks area, initially within the London Region.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

The following skills and attributes are important to this role

  • City and Guilds 2339 (formally 2322) certificate or equivalent
  • HAUC (NRSWA) qualification as a supervisor and operative
  • Flexibility and able to work in a team environment
  • Ability to problem solve in a practical way
  • Able to work under pressure
  • Must have a clean driving licence
