About Us: 

Blue Cross are one the UK’s leading rehoming organisations for animals. We support sick, injured and homeless pets and care for more than 40,000 animals every year through our rehoming, veterinary and education programmes. We’re working to rehome 20,000 pets by 2020 and so we are looking for an Area Manager to enable us to achieve our retail targets across the South of England and parts of London.

Your Role: 

As an Area Manager, you will be tasked with managing 13 existing shops and a number of additional stores as and when they open. 

You will join a team of four Area Managers and ensure that our retail shops promote our charitable work, raise awareness of Blue Cross and raise money to help pets. 

Specifically, the role will involve: 

- Line managing shop teams 
- Recruiting shop staff and training and developing Managers, Assistant Managers and Stock Collectors 
- Supporting the recruitment of volunteers 
- Visiting shops to ensure standards are maintained 
- Organising and running regular Manager meetings 
- Promoting healthy administrative and accounting activities 
- Providing cover in shops when necessary 

About You: 

To be considered as an Area Manager, you will need: 

- Retail management experience within a commercial company and/or a registered charity 
- Experience of achieving success against financial targets 
- Experience of developing and monitoring budgets and operating plans 
- Experience of managing, training and developing people 
- A full manual driving licence
