An exciting opportunity has arisen with West Suffolk Councils to become an Assistant Building Control Surveyor with Career Progression. You will join our team in the Bury St Edmunds, on a full time, permanent basis and will receive a competitive starting salary of £24,657 - £25,463 per annum depending on qualifications/experience (potentially rising to £29,909 through annual Performance Review awards)

The Assistant Building Control Surveyor role
We are working together to provide a shared service across our two authorities, which makes for an exciting and varied working environment in a beautiful part of Suffolk. An exciting opportunity has recently become available for which we require a person with drive and determination to join our dedicated Building Control team.
A building control career with us offers the opportunity to be involved in virtually all aspects of the construction process. Reporting to the Senior Building Control Surveyors you will be expected to advise, negotiate and instruct builders, developers, property owners, agents and the general public to enable compliance with the Building Regulations by telephone, in person, in the office or on site.
Skills and experience required by our Assistant Building Control Surveyor
We are looking for a hardworking and confident individual with an HNC or degree in a suitable construction related subject wishing to develop and pursue a career in building control. However, we would welcome applicants who may not necessarily have the relevant qualifications but would be willing to learn and study to be qualified in this field.
The successful Assistant Building Control Surveyor will have strong customer service focus with a flexible and self motivated approach. Good communication and influencing skills with the ability to deal effectively with people, sometimes in difficult circumstances are essential. Site visits are required in a large rural area and therefore you will need to hold a driving licence and have access to a car. This role will be mainly based at our offices in Mildenhall with flexibility to work from our offices in Bury St Edmunds.
