A Financial Accountant with reporting, project control and investment accounting is required to work on a permanent basis for our Defence client based in Basildon.

Overview of the Financial Accountant role

The Finance department is looking for a Financial Controller to oversee the work in the Land, Precision Guidance and Support sectors of the division. The candidate would work directly for the VP Finance and provide financial control, advice and support to the Sector Vice Presidents and their integrated project teams. Leading a team of 3 project accountants the candidate would manage and be responsible for all financial and project reporting requirements, providing accurate, timely and relevant management information as well as providing advice and guidance to the project teams.

Key Responsibility Areas of the Financial Accountant role

Facilitate the delivery of budgetary financial commitments by the sectors to include:

• Consolidated sector's financial reporting.
• Project control & Investment accounting.
• Capital employed management.
• Business and investment case review.
• Trading plans and cashflow management.
• Capital expenditure monitoring.
• Transaction reconciliation & support.
• Produce annual budgets, monthly forecasts and support business plans for the sector, identifying major risks and opportunities.
• Ensure business decisions and investments are financially sound and follow due process and review, supporting bids & new product development, including financial modelling.
• Provide accurate and timely management information.
• Develop and manage teams to support these requirements.

Key skills required for the Financial Accountant

• Have experience in project accounting
• Be proficient in MS Excel and have experience in SAP
• Be self-motivated and driven to succeed
• Have Excellent communication and organisation skills
• Be Business focused
• Have experience working in an Integrated Project team
• Qualified accountant with post qualified experience (CIMA, ACCA)

The role is based in Basildon, Essex - commutable from Colchester, Braintree, Witham, Great Dunmow, Bishop's Stortford, Sawbridgeworth, Harlow, Epping, Loughton, Brentwood, Basildon and Southend-on-Sea with excellent access from London.
