A Special Needs School in Leeds are seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to join their existing team. This is a full time role, on a fixed term contract basis, with the opportunity to apply for a permanent role within school.

You will have previous experience of supporting pupils with additional learning needs (Autism, PMLD, and SEMH) and be confident in supporting individual pupils with their personal care needs. You may also have additional training in Team Teach, Moving and Handling, PECs, Intensive Interaction and/or Autism Awareness, or be committed to completing the above training as part of your role.

A generic special school catering for pupils aged 2-19, the school are committed to meeting the needs of all learners, with an emphasis on positive personal and social development. The school benefits from on-site medical staff and in house Speech and Language Therapists, and a team of Autism Specialist Teachers who regularly attend school to provide specific training.

You will be dedicated to providing holistic support to pupils to ensure both academic and personal achievement goals are met. You will possess excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise with a multi-disciplinary team of Nurses, Speech and Language Therapists, Teachers, Parents and Educational Psychologists. Knowledge and understanding of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP) is essential
